Client success story: how Versori enabled Clarus to rapidly launch 20+ custom Shopify and Unleashed integrations.
Integration 1: Shopify
Integration 2: Unleashed
Clarus, a rapidly growing, UK-based WMS, found itself churning prospects due to missing integrations. Differentiating from legacy competitors by providing the scalability, visibility, & order accuracy modern online-only brands need, ran counter-intuitive to the value of the Co-Founders Tim Payne and Fred Thompson wanted to offer.
Attempting to use other legacy IPaaS for over 12 months, the team were unable to get a single integration live. Looking to internal options yielded no improvement: the in-house tech team ran into the same problems as other platforms, dragging out delivery schedules and ultimately relying on the CTO to directly oversee connector projects.
Ultimately, Versori was able to deliver custom Shopify & Unleashed connectors for all 20+ workflows required for each system in just one month at a fraction of the cost.
Fred Thompson is the technical force behind Clarus, bringing over 23 years of experience in leading successful technology businesses. His journey began in 2001 when he founded Build Empire, a Learning Management System (LMS) that has since become a recognised leader in the education technology sector.
While continuing to grow Build Empire, a chance high school reunion with old friend Tim Payne sparked something new. Tim had been working for a legacy WMS provider and was fed up with outdated systems holding the warehousing industry back. Together, Fred and Tim hatched a bold plan: to build a warehouse management system that was truly best-in-class.
Now as CTO of Clarus, Fred leads the technology side of the business, driving innovation, scalability, and rock-solid reliability across the platform. His deep technical expertise and sharp eye for solving real-world problems have been key to Clarus’s rapid growth. Fred isn’t just building software, he’s helping reshape the future of warehouse management.
"Every time we’re signing up a new customer, there is an integration piece that is critical to that success… Where we didn’t have central integration [losing one] opportunity alone was £350,000."
Fred Thompson, CTO of Clarus
"We’re in deals that we had to say no to previously."
Connector Engine: Handling the combination of GraphQL & REST
Versori’s Connector Engine onboarded both Clarus’ GraphQL & REST in 30 seconds, inclusive of all endpoints, parameters, & authentication. Whereas other platforms struggled to handle this multi-system complexity, Versori’s flexibility eliminated weeks of onboarding from expected timelines.
Custom Workflows: Ensuring workflows mimic Clarus’ operations
Core workflows within the integration needed to mimic Clarus’ operations. As a WMS, there are many activities to accurately execute & these critical paths vary customer to customer.
Versori’s whiteboard-like UI & developer-level tooling ensured workflows could precisely reflect the company’s processes without months of custom development & heavy professional service fees.
AI Transformer: Understanding the hundreds of fields in Clarus’ GraphQL API
Orders, SKUs, shipments, warehouses: Clarus required all these data structures to be handled with complete accuracy while also being dynamic to enable the software to be set up exactly to a customer’s needs. Numbering in the hundreds, mapping the fields would have taken months in code but with Versori’s AI transformer, this could be done in a few hours.
